This catalogue presents a cross-section of the work of the internationally acclaimed artist. In many cases, these are motifs from a series. All based on his own photographs. By combining his disciplines, some of the works lie at the interface between photography and painting. Some incorporate the written word. The focus is mostly on people he has met on his many travels around the world. The works tell stories about their lives, cultures, sorrows and joys. With all that Thomas Ruhl experienced on his travels, the present work cannot remain uncritical.
